Update - Thursday May 24th (From a PvP standpoint)
http://www.guildwars.com/support/gameupdates/
Things PvPers might care about:
- Players can now speak with Tolkano [Tournament] to spend their Tournament Reward Points on various armor and weapon skins.
- The Automated Tournament clock now changes appearance when it is time to join the current round.
- Fixed a line-of-sight bug that allowed a variety of exploits in the Dark Chambers Hall of Heroes map.
- Made preparations for the GvG Double Reward Weekend event.
- The Observer mode game list now remembers which categories have been collapsed. The automatic selection feature now only chooses from expanded categories.
It's alot, I know.
PvPers can now get descently skinned items. Too bad cool looking items don't improve gameplay.
Wow. The clock changes appearance when you're supposed to join now. Just wow. This will surely improve gameplay. Wait, nevermind.
Hey, they fixed a bug people have been complaining about for a very long time! It even improves gameplay! Good job ANET. No, I'm not being sarcastic, ok maybe alittle bit because it took you so long, but it sounds like you actually fixed somthing, so congrats.
Wow! Double champ points and double balthazar faction at a time when people are quitting in droves. How exactly does this make your game better?
First, that's amazing news! This will save gamers maybe a minite of total time over the next few months! As for the second part of that, I didn't know people used that feature.
(I'm not opposed to any of these changes, mind you. It's just that in terms of priority, I'd rather have ANET adress big meaningful issues instead of very minor superficial ones.)
I'll now go list all of the PvE updates, just so we can more easily compare them to the PvP updates:
- Players can now obtain armor insignias from all campaigns. Profession-restricted insignias will only drop in campaigns in which characters of that profession can be created.
- Crafted armor in Prophecies and Factions now supports insignias. The insignia bonuses are meant to replace the previous inherent armor bonuses and require several additional changes:
- From this point onward, armor pieces newly crafted in these campaigns will not have inherent bonuses. The crafting costs of these armor pieces have been reduced accordingly.
- All existing level 20 armor from these campaigns now have insignias in place of their inherent bonuses. Please note that the bonuses on these armor sets have not been altered. The only change is that these bonuses now come from insignias.
- All existing lower-level armor pieces from these campaigns now support insignias but have had their inherent bonuses removed.
- Numerous armor sets have been renamed to avoid redundancy with insignia names.
- Lower-level collector armor pieces from Prophecies and Factions now support insignias. Level 20 collector armor does not.
- The following changes were made to Ascended armor sets:
- The armor sets crafted in Droknar's Forge have been divided between the two armorers in a more organized fashion.
- Several Ascended armor sets have been renamed to avoid naming conflicts with the corresponding level 20 armor sets.
- A new "Labyrinthine" tattoo set has been added for Monks at Marhan's Grotto.
- In Prophecies, Mesmer, Monk, Necromancer, Ranger, and Warrior headgear may now be crafted with a variety of attribute bonus options.
- Existing Lieutenant's Helms crafted in Prophecies now have a +1 Tactics bonus in addition to a Lieutenant's Insignia.
- The Icy Dragon Sword is now considered a rare item. This change also means that it is now exempt from loot scaling.
- To help prevent trade scams, "The Heart of Ice" Prophecies quest item no longer shares icon art with sapphires.
- Defeating Urgoz now spawns a chest that each player will be able to interact with individually. This chest will grant each player either one inscribable rare item or one of Urgoz's unique items, as well as two chunks of amber.
- Players who open this chest while in Hard Mode will receive two item drops and four chunks of amber.
- Urgoz no longer drops his unique items himself.
- Defeating Kanaxai now spawns a chest that each player will be able to interact with individually. This chest will grant each player either one inscribable rare item or one of Kanaxai's unique items, as well as two chunks of jadeite.
- Players who open this chest while in Hard Mode will receive two item drops and four chunks of jadeite.
- Kanaxai no longer drops his unique items himself.
- Passage scrolls now have a chance of dropping from monsters slain in the Underworld and the Fissure of Woe so that players have a chance to earn free passage back to these areas.
- The /help emote has changed to /helpme. /help is now used to open the Help panel.
- Typing /wiki into the Chat panel opens the front page of the wiki, while typing /wiki followed by a word or phrase searches the entire wiki for that content. (Please note that there is only an English language wiki available at this time.)
- Fixed a bug that caused some items to appear temporarily as white boxes in the Inventory panel.
- Fixed a bug in Old Ascalon that prevented some players from vanquishing the map while in Hard Mode.
- Bow descriptions have been updated to include bow type.
I'm not going to elaborate any more on the changes, aside from pointing out the obvious fact that PvE got more stuff, and the stuff they got was new content that they care about, and re-working of old content to make the game better. Oh, and I guess you could consider some things in my PvE section to benefit PvP too, but whatever.
Discuss how awsome this update is for PvPers and PvP.

Year ago I had patience and hope, so I would most likely end up writing long and meaningful post discussing the update.
But its may 2007, and all I can say is "Epic fail as usual". GG anet.

Your 1337 skins will vanish if you delete the character to roll a new one (which I do with my pvp-only character slot)...
Not very cool I blew all my reward points, then swapped and now I'm left with nothing again.

PvP'ers get updates for PvP
PvE'ers get updates for PvE
we both get updates.. PvP'ers didn't get much this time, well next time you'll probably get more and we PvE'ers will get less.. who cares?

Well, HA needs fixing badly. But skill updates (and jade isle) are for *between seasons* if that's what you're looking for.

HA needed looking at (i.e. totally removing it and starting again), Hexes need looked at. Certain gvg maps need looked at (Infact the whole gvg map thing needs looked at - several good suggestions have been proposed on these forums that solve the imbalanced map problem).
Why has Anet refused to address these problems?? Either they don't care about pvp (are we that much of a minority they won't miss the pvp population when they give up to play Warhammer Online?) or they are too busy pushing this new chapter and working on GW2 that they don't have time for coding much needed fixes?
Its a shame they don't listen to the pvp community, because these new games like Warhammer Online will entice everyone that enjoyed pvp in GW away, and they won't return for the new chapter or for GW2.

HA should just be completely ignored. Waste of time.
Maps and balance in the competitive modes can't be changed today. They could have been changed last week or the week before, or next week, but not today. Because there's a tournament final on the weekend, etc.
If there's no skill/map update prior to the start of June's ATs, then it's time to ragequit. But it just wouldn't make sense to include it in *this* update.

A balance update may still come. Key is less anguish and gnashing of teeth while we wait. Enjoy what's there. Sure, sometimes it's hard and seems to take forever (6v6 HA was the dark age for me personally), but it passes sooner when you don't cry over it all the time. Which is not the same thing as making sure your viewpoints are represented on a forum like this.
